Poignant Degradation

Caught in a net, a web of wonder
Pricking my finger
Hoping for a drop of thunder

Tongue-tied
Heart-denied
Clumsy in the way of love

Too proud to show myself as I really am
Caught singing in the moon-light
Confessing everything my heart's denied

Pointing the finger
Always placing the blame on my pride
Too strong to lower my shield

Daily shielding my heart
From the flaming arrows of the unknown

Caught in a tidal-wave
A deluge of self-preservation
Never to relinquish these chains of poignant degradation.
